Notary Public in Miami - FAQ
The most important questions about Notary Public answered
- What does a notary do?
A notary checks your ID, makes sure you’re signing willingly, and then completes the notarization (certificate + stamp/seal). - What does it mean if my document is notarized?
It means a notary followed the official signing steps and added the correct notary wording and stamp/seal to your document. - How much is a notarization in Florida?
Florida limits what a notary can charge for standard notarizations which is $10. If you need mobile service, there may also be a travel/service fee. - What should I bring with me?
Bring your document and a valid Government issued photo ID. If your document needs witnesses, bring them unless you’ve arranged witnesses ahead of time. - Do I need to be there in person to have my signature notarized?
Yes. You must appear before the notary—either in person or through a legal online notarization (when it applies). - What if I forgot my ID?
All notarizations require a valid ID. - I signed already—can you still notarize it?
Sometimes. If it’s an acknowledgment, you can often sign beforehand and then come in to confirm it’s your signature. If it’s a jurat, you usually sign in front of the notary. - Acknowledgment vs jurat—what’s the difference?
An acknowledgment is you confirming you signed willingly. A jurat is signing in front of the notary plus an oath/affirmation that it’s true. - When would a notary say “no”?
If you don’t have proper ID, you’re not present, the document is incomplete, or something doesn’t look right (like pressure or blank spaces), a notary may refuse. - Why do notarized documents get rejected sometimes?
Usually it’s missing info, the wrong notary wording, an unclear stamp/seal, or the receiving office needing a specific format. - What can make a notarization invalid?
Wrong or incomplete certificate, altered documents, missing dates, or skipping required ID/appearance steps can cause problems. - Can I notarize my documents online?
Sometimes, yes. Online notarization may work depending on your document and where it will be used. - Do I need an appointment or can I walk in?
Appointments are best if you want to be in and out fast, have multiple documents, need witnesses, or want mobile service. Walk-ins are always welcome. - Do you do notarized translations?
Yes—we offer notarized translations so your translated paperwork is ready for many official and international uses.
